Half-marathon weekend in Indy

J decided about 5 months ago to start increasing his running distance to a half-marathon and the Indianapolis Monumental half fit perfectly for his race so we made a weekend away out of it.

We left Cinci on Friday immediately after picking S up from school and headed to Indy. We arrived to the hotel just before 6 to a bit of madness - Trump was in town and would be staying at the same hotel as us so security was intense. After getting checked in, we headed to the expo for packet pick up and then enjoyed room service dinner at the hotel room before resting for the night.

Saturday was the day of the race. It was pretty much perfect running weather and the girls and I loved seeing J along the course. We saw him around mile 2.5, almost mile 5, and then the finish line. He beat his goal time by a few minutes and all of his hard work and training had paid off. We are all very proud of him!

After relaxing a bit we headed to the children’s museum for the afternoon which was so much fun. We’d been before - almost 3 years ago- and enjoyed some similar things but many new things. Highlights included- the superheroes area, the fashion area, and the new sports center outside. The girls also had a tea party with the bears just like last time.

Dinner tonight was Italian and then we had a family walk around the downtown mall before back to the hotel for the evening.

Saturday night/Sunday morning was fall back so we were all up quite early and headed to the hotel pool a little after 6:30am for a bit of swimming fun. After shower and packing up, we headed to breakfast at Yolk and then home. We arrived home in time for lunch and to enjoy Sunday afternoon before the start of another week.
