2019: A Look Back

2019 brought many good memories, personal accomplishments, and family bonding - we've had some fun reminiscing over the past 12 months together and here are some of the highlights:

Travel Related

The first big trip of the year was just J and me going to Colombia for J's brother's wedding - it was a nice adults only getaway and another new country for us to experience together.

Next up was a spring break getaway to visit my parents and head to Niagara Falls with them - we had a spectacular view of the falls and great time all together.

J headed to Eugene, OR in April for a half-marathon and rocked a new PR!

Our big trip of the year was one I had been looking forward to for so long and the subject of most of my posts for the year - our 11 night Disney Cruise to Iceland, Norway, Scotland, and Gothenburg with a few days in London beforehand.  There are too many highlights from this trip to count but enjoy some pictures. And this was the trip where I reached my country count matching my current age!

We spent a weekend in Columbus while J ran his first full-marathon and qualified for Boston and Berlin - woohoo!

Next up was a fall getaway to Marco Island, Florida with my friend J and her family.

Our last trip of the year was the annual family ski trip to Park City, Utah.

Our updated country counts are:
M: 37
J: 31
S: 26
C: 13

Other highlights

J's running was a major part of the year - I mentioned his half and full marathon PRs but he also won a local 2-mile race and came in 3rd in a local 1 mile race that we all participated in.

I had a few good races at the beginning of the year including placing in the top 25 at the Frozen 10K to win a puck. I ran well over 1,000 miles which was a personal goal of mine and had some decent 'streaks' through the year.

S qualified for accelerated math and is now taking 5th grade math as a 4th grader. She also graduated to Junior Girl Scout. S decided to try cheerleading this year and completely loved it too!

C learned to ride her bike and started her last year of preschool. She learned to swim and loved being at the rec pool all summer with the rest of the family. C also was invited to join the gymnastics team and is taking two practices per week.

We are all looking forward to everything 2020 will bring!
