Celebrating Jason and Vanessa in Cartagena, Colombia

J's older brother, Jason, and his new wife Vanessa were just married in Cartagena, Colombia so J and I spent an adults only weekend there - country #35 for me....on my way to country #37 this year (while being 37!).

Back to the wedding weekend though - this was a fabulous celebration of Jason and Vanessa. First though, we had to coordinate the details for the girls. My parents arrived on Friday afternoon to go over all of the details for the weekend and J & I even snuck out for a workout that evening.

We had an early morning flight Saturday to ATL and then were off to Cartagena. Arrival in Cartagena was easy but we had a little difficulty finding our hotel car before heading to the hotel. We booked a room at an 8-room boutique hotel (Alfiz) that didn't allow kids for our weekend away. The room was fabulous and the hotel was in a great location.

We explored the city a bit upon arrival and then J went for a run while I walked some more around the city. We had a small dinner on the square and watched some marriage parades before heading to the welcome party.

Following the welcome party, we had what was the most adventurous cab ride of our marriage - the driver insisted he knew where he was going but was acting quite crazy and then started driving away from old town before I stopped him and J directed him to our hotel.

We slept in and then enjoyed a nice breakfast at the hotel and early lunch with J's aunt and cousin. We decided to explore some more and went to the fort on the hill. We tried to meet J's aunt and uncle there but we somehow missed each other. The views were spectacular though.

J and I rested a bit and then decided to head out for a run together, which was lovely for me ....and likely very boring and slow for J even though he insisted it was OK.

And then it was time for the wedding - we headed over to the villa the wedding would be held at together and then split up. I hung out with the ladies while J was with his brothers. The ceremony was gorgeous followed by a lovely cocktail hour, yummy dinner, and fabulous night of dancing.

The next morning came way too soon as it was time for me to head home to the girls and J stayed for a few days of relaxing with Jason and Vanessa and other guests. My day was full of travel and eventually made it home around 10pm before a full day of work the next day.

J headed out to Baru with those that stayed and enjoyed time at the beach before arriving home a few days later.

What a wonderful wedding to celebrate Jason and Vanessa.
