2017 Spring Break - Girls Trip to visit Grandma and Papa

For S's first grade spring break, the girls and I took a road trip to visit Grandma and Papa while J stayed behind for work. It was a wonderful trip visiting lots of family and doing many activities during the days - highlights are below.

We left Cincinnati on Sunday a little after lunchtime and C slept for about half of the drive. The girls were really nice little travelers and only requested one stop for a quick snack. Once we got to Niles and settled in, the girls colored Easter Eggs (yes a little early) with Grandma.

 Monday Highlights:
The girls woke up to a surprise early Easter Egg hunt from Grandma and giggled the whole time they found the eggs.

We spent a few hours at the local mall after that - from playing at the play area to enjoying the aquarium to spending some time playing games and riding rides at the local arcade, the girls really enjoyed this.

We also went and got cousin Kasen off the bus (S's spring break is different from the schools by Grandma and Papa) and then had pasta dinner with my parents, Gina, Kevin, Kasen, and Travis.

Tuesday Highlights:
We headed to the Cleveland Science Center where the girls especially enjoyed the NASA exhibit. They had many interactive things for the kids to do and a good range of things for various ages.

Next up was a visit to my brother Todd's studio for a lovely lunch with Todd and Debra - Todd owns his own jewelry studio and S absolutely loved it - she didnt want to leave.

For Tuesday evening we headed to the Hot Dog Shoppe, a local favorite, and then to visit my brother Bob and his family. While at the Hot Dog Shoppe, S and Kasen shared their own booth given the size of our group and loved it. While at Bob's, the girls loved watching cousin Hayden fly his drone.

 Wednesday Highlights:
Another day, another museum - this time was Oh WOW in Youngstown. This is a great children's center in the city - we were the only people there for most of the time. The girls really enjoyed the wind tunnel, the water play area, and the airplane. We also enjoyed some crafts in the basement before leaving.

For dinner, we headed up to Middlefield to visit my brother John and his boys. S's love of tacos was reaffirmed at a lovely Mexican restaurant and then we visited the local donut shop after hours for some yummy treats (my brother is good friends with the owner).

Thursday Highlights:

We had a much quieter Thursday with a relaxing morning at home baking Easter Bread and then headed to the playground for some fun time. We also visited the cemetery (a tradition of mine when I am visiting) and also a local chocolate shop - yum!

Kasen came over for some play time after school and then we enjoyed a little more play time before packing up and bed.

Friday:
On Friday morning, we had some play time at home and S joined me for my run before packing up the car, heading to an early lunch with Grandma and Papa and then heading home. The drive back was nice as well and we were all very happy to see J!
