Travel and first day in Geneva

We're now in Geneva - safe, happy, and a bit jet lagged.

Our travel here was somewhat eventful. For as much as I travel, I have pretty good luck- I have been delayed here and there but have only missed one connection in all of my international travel. Yesterday, we arrived to CVG with plenty of time to spare. Our flight to Newark was delayed - at first, they thought we would make our connection. When I asked again, they realized that we should get on the flight to Dulles immediately (that was luckily one gate over) and take a different flight to Geneva. We took the last 3 seats from CVG to DC and were on our way.  Once in DC, we grabbed a quick snack and boarded.

S was a total trooper - she watched Cars on the monitor (thank you On-Demand) and really enjoyed her super big business class seat. She slept for a few hours and was a bit dazed but happy as we went through customs, etc.

While we made it on the flight changes, our bags didn't. United knew this and have confirmed that our bags are on their way now to arrive tomorrow. They gave us a generous shopping allowance to cover items needed until our bags get here.

We were upgraded at the hotel so we are enjoying a spacious room for the evening. We did our apartment walk through and still love it just as much as we did the first time we saw it - what a great expat home it will be :) The rental furniture is there now and we will start staying there tomorrow.

All in all, a good travel experience. People were so incredibly nice to us too - from the rental car return van at Cincinnati who helped us with our bags to the family that insisted on carrying some of my bags off the first flight (S was asleep, J was a few rows ahead of us) to the man that switched seats with J on the long flight so he could be by S and me.
