Loving my little lady!

S and I spent the weekend together while J attended a wedding in Canada for one of his closest friends from college. This was the first time that S and I have been alone overnight on a weekend for awhile. Yes, J has had some business trips but those are during the hectic work week and did plenty of skiing this winter but wasn't gone overnight without us except for when my brother was in town. S and I got to enjoy some true 'Girl Time'.

I worked from home Friday and shut down promptly at 5:30 to let the nanny leave and spend the evening with S. We went grocery shopping and baked chocolate chip cupcakes from scratch. She was a big helper and loved putting the liners in the pan. One of the things I love about baking with S is that she enjoys the baking part a lot but doesn't beg to eat too much of our goodies. She asked for one cupcake Friday for dinner and one on Saturday, gobbled each one down, and then didn't ask for any more.

We ate dinner, played Barbies, and read books before bedtime.

On Saturday, we went to the park pretty early in the morning. The big highlight for me was that S learned to use the fireman pole and loved sliding down it. The other thing that was adorable was she 'raced' a little girl to the bathroom and S seems to be crazy fast, like J!

We watched some of the World Track Championships, went to the shoe store and got S some new fall shoes, and even braved Manor (one of the major department stores) on a Saturday afternoon - this is crazy busy time because everything is closed on Sunday. We stayed up a bit late playing and coloring in her Tinkerbell book after this.

So she slept in on Sunday...until 8:30! We just played at home all morning- we had a 'party' with all of her dolls for the morning and most of the afternoon. This included singing, dancing, and coloring. We also played chalk outside and S practiced drawing her shapes. Her love of doing things that might seem 'nerdy' or 'boring' reminds me of the things I loved doing with my parents and Grandma and what I imagine J to have loved doing too. I can still remember the spelling and adding tests I begged them to give me before I started kindergarden (true story, you can ask my dad- he still has them in his 'M Box'!),  and loved how she was saying 'do you want me to try to draw a triangle?' and then doing it. She was so proud.

We also got to Facetime with J plenty, which was great! We both missed him but are happy he got to see his friends and celebrate with Ben. S was thrilled to see J while he was at the airport and she was trying to fall asleep on Sunday. We got off the phone and she fell right to sleep.

All in all, a great weekend for all of us. We are looking forward to a family weekend with the three of us all together next weekend though!

Have a great week everyone!
