We are doing everything we can to take advantage of this expat experience - we don't want to regret the things that we could have or should have done while we are here later (I try to live my whole life this way, but it is especially important during our expat life).
So.... a few weeks ago, I noticed a deal on Buy Club (kind of like Groupon for Geneva with a focus on things expats would like) for a race car driving experience in the French Alps with four exotic cars. Knowing how much J likes cars, this one was a no-brainer. I purchased the deal and made our appointment. The track was about 1hour and 45 minutes away from our apartment so we decided to stay at a hotel the night before and Friday night after work, we were on our way.
Our hotel was simple and clean - we had an extra bed for S, which she liked, and a good breakfast in the morning. We were then off to Circuit du Lacquais. We were greeted upon arrival and J was pointed to where he needed to go. After about 5 minutes, they came and got J for an orientation lap on the track. S was so excited - she kept running around clapping that Daddy was driving on this really cool, twisty, long track. She wanted me to pick her up each time we could see him :).
Then the real fun started! After just a few minutes of waiting, J found his helmet and was off. The first car was an Aston Martin, the second a Lamborghini, the third a Ferrari, and the fourth a Porsche. There was just a short way between each car, so S and I stood attentively and watched. J enjoyed each car for different reasons and was glad that we chose the package where he drove all 4 cars. We captured a few good pictures, J was given a diploma certifying his driving ability, and we headed home.
What a great experience all around!
On a side note, we have already purchased a few other things from Buy Club including award winning wines and a voucher for a steak restaurant that we will be using for our anniversary dinner next month. I am anxiously awaiting a hot air balloon ride voucher as I know they have done this previously and I really want to do one while we are here.
Follow our family of four through our many travels and other adventures. We love to travel to new countries and also love Disney.
