It is hard to believe we have already been in Geneva 10 months! We all love it here and it has felt like 'home' for quite awhile now. That said, there are still some funny reminders that we aren't Swiss or even European and that we aren't in the US. I thought I'd share a few:
I get really funny looks when S and I go on our runs together - in Blue Ash, I would see other parents with their Bob strollers regularly. In Geneva, I am definitely in the minority and some fellow runners look at me as if I was running with an alien on my back.
When the conversation turns to the latest 'futbol' match, I am completely confused. I love the NFL and would usually know the highlights of the weekend before when we were in the US; however, there must be some major tournament happening in the world of European futbol right now and I am completely lost.
The normal pediatrician tests are a bit dated. Let me start with - we LOVE our pediatrician here. I can see her office from our balcony and kitchen; her hours are incredibly flexible for Switzerland, and she is incredibly nice to S. That said, they still do some funny tests like the knee reflex test. S was so confused when they did in the first time and it made me think back to when I was a little girl.
I have no clue what size shoes to buy for S or me. I think that I am about a 40/41 but they all fit a bit differently. Same with S, I guessed last time we needed some for her - when she tried them on, they were so big they fell off as she walked, so the nice sales lady helped me find the right size.
I'm still in awe of the lake and the Alps although I am not sure the amazing views will ever get old.
Follow our family of four through our many travels and other adventures. We love to travel to new countries and also love Disney.
