We spent a wonderful weekend away in Zermatt so that J could ski for the first time of the season and so that we could all view the iconic Matterhorn. It was a fantastic weekend and Zermatt is now one of my favorite towns we have ever visited. I think we will go back in the summer for hiking and next winter for more ski fun.

We decided to take the train as Zermatt is a car free city – we took an early morning train to Visp and then transferred to Zermatt. The views were beautiful during the ride. Our hotel picked us up in their e-shuttle and we were able to check in early. Our hotel room had a balcony and Matterhorn view, but the snow and clouds kept the view away for the first day. J went off to ski and S and I went into town. She was great- she walked the entire way. We had lunch at McDonald’s as S was sleepy and wanted something quick. We took an e-taxi back to the hotel to relax a bit.

After her nap, she and I went to the hotel pool and were quite impressed- there was a large kiddie pool that she and I had to ourselves. We played for a few hours before going back to the room and meeting J. We went for pizza and pasta that night. S was worn out and fell asleep on my lap J

On Saturday, we woke up to a real treat – the sun was shining and the Matterhorn was gorgeous! After breakfast at the hotel, J went off skiing and S and I headed into town. We did some shopping (a special pink princess cup for her), went into the gorgeous church and listened to the music, and just wandered around. We stopped for a snack and hot chocolate and just sat and chatted for awhile. Our innocent conversations are so special and fun! S’s curiosity is just delightful.

After some more shopping, we headed to a train and went to the ski area to meet J for lunch. The views were even better.  S was excited to hear about daddy’s skiing – she was really proud of him. The morning wore her out because she fell asleep on the train down, so I took her back to hotel asleep and let her keep napping. After nap, more pool time!

We went out for Mexican for dinner because we can’t find it in Geneva. It was delicious and S loved it just as much as she loved Mexican before we moved.

The train ride back was nice as well – S told me all about the trip and we played with some sticker books. Off to the US for a few days for me before one more weekend in Geneva and then back to the US for the holidays.
