First Weekend with My Parents: Saleve and Courmayeur

My parents and aunt came to visit for about 10 days and have just left yesterday.

They arrived on a Friday at about 3:30pm. They were supposed to arrive at 7:30am but were delayed due to plane issues. Needless to say they were all quite sleepy!

For their first weekend, we enjoyed a few fun days.

Friday: After everyone had showered, we had dinner at home and then walked down to the fountain. It was a gorgeous night to be out and a fun way to show my parents the highlights of Geneva.

Saturday: We took the bus to the French border and then walked about 10 minutes to the Saleve. J, S, and I had visited it before and really enjoyed the view. We took the cable car to the top of the mountain, enjoyed the beautiful view, and let S play at the playground for a bit. We then headed on a 20 minute hike up the hill to see a view of Mont-Blanc over the back of the mountain. It was spectacular. S also was great- she really enjoyed climbing up the trail when she could. We also enjoyed lunch at the top of mountain before heading back to the apartment.

Sunday: We headed to Courmayeur, Italy for the day- this was S's first visit to Italy (country number 6 for her! - US, Switzerland, France, Holland, Portugal, Italy). The weather in Geneva was quite rainy so the drive through Chamonix wasn't quite as spectacular as it could have been; however, once we passed through Mont Blanc Tunnel, the sun was shining and it was a great day. We enjoyed wandering the town and had a delightful Italian lunch followed by gelato. There was a beautiful church in town too.
